Campla: from concept to a functioning motorhome rental marketplace in 6 months

Campla is a web-based marketplace platform connecting owners of motorhomes, caravans, and campervans (businesses and private individuals) with travelers looking for a vehicle for their holidays. The platform supports the full rental cycle: from listing a vehicle and searching for offers, through online booking and payment, to fleet management, rental documents, and post-trip reviews.

Challenge

Building a marketplace in the recreational vehicle rental industry is much more than setting up a website with listings. The key challenge was to design a system that reconciles the needs of three different user roles (renter, owner, administrator), handles a complex payment model with advances and final settlements, while also meeting the regulatory requirements of KNF regarding financial operations.

An additional difficulty was creating a dynamic system of vehicle filters and parameters that the administrator can expand without developer intervention, as well as ensuring responsiveness on mobile devices while maintaining a rich UX (calendars, photo galleries, multi-step booking).

Solution

We took on the full scope of implementation, from analysis, through architecture and development, to production deployment and stabilization:

Analysis and specification: drafting a full functional description for three roles (renter, owner, admin), with user stories, user journeys, and a payment model. Opting out of escrow in favor of direct payments to rental companies (KNF requirements).

Backend (Laravel 12): building an API handling vehicle CRUD with multiple technical parameters, a dynamic filter system configurable by the admin, a booking engine (Request to Book / Instant Book), integration of payment gateways (Przelewy24, iMoje), and a queue system (Laravel Queue) for emails and notifications.

Frontend: responsive views (desktop + mobile) featuring availability calendars, photo galleries, a multi-step booking process, and user panels.

Fleet management: availability calendar with manual date blocking, seasonal pricing with long-term discounts, reminders for insurance, technical inspections, and service, as well as vehicle handover/return protocols.

Communication: built-in messaging system between renters and owners, transactional email templates, and real-time in-app notifications.

Admin panel: content and photo moderation, dictionary management (vehicle types, equipment, filters, extra services), and an overview of bookings and payments with the ability to make manual adjustments.

Deployment and stabilization: production deploy in Q1 2026, an intensive bug-fixing phase (photo uploads, payment flow, vehicle parameters, calendar, mobile responsiveness), and Google Tag Manager integration.

Result

Campla operates as a fully functional motorhome rental marketplace, featuring an active online booking system, payments via Przelewy24, an extensive owner panel with fleet care, and an administrative panel that allows for platform expansion without developer involvement.

The platform was delivered from concept to production in about 6 months, with an architecture ready to expand to new vehicle types, foreign markets, and advanced features (loyalty program, dynamic pricing, mobile app).
