Mindo 2.0: A New AI Assistant Version for Students

PZPO is developing an Online Educational Platform that supports students in independent learning. One of the key elements of this ecosystem is Mindo, an AI-based virtual teacher.

 

Mindo helps students with their daily coursework: it answers questions, explains difficult concepts, supports problem-solving, quizzes them on lessons, and helps organize their knowledge.

Challenge

The biggest challenge was creating an AI assistant that operates within a specific educational context, rather than as a general conversational tool.

A student using Mindo should receive answers tailored to the currently opened lesson, exercise, subject, and conversation history. The system had to integrate educational content, user data, lesson context, conversation history, and the constraints stemming from the safe use of AI in education.

Solution

We created an AI assistant based on Google Gemini, integrated with the PZPO IPE. The system utilizes the RAG mechanism, allowing answers to be grounded in the knowledge base and educational content available on the platform.

Mindo was designed not as a tool for providing ready-made answers, but as a support system in the learning process. The assistant guides the student toward the solution, suggests next steps, explains correlations, and encourages them to arrive at the answer independently. As a result, the AI acts as a virtual teacher rather than an answer generator.

Result

Mindo 2.0 transforms the AI assistant from a simple chat into a contextual educational tool integrated with the student's actual learning process. The student receives support exactly where they need it: within a lesson, an exercise, or while working with the study material.
